Applied and Computational Mathematics Position

Joint Appointment Between Oak Ridge National Laboratory and The University of Tennessee, Knoxville

The Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in partnership with the University of
Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) is soliciting applications for a joint faculty position in
applied and computational mathematics at the Joint Institute for Computational
Sciences (JICS).

The JICS Joint Faculty position is a dual appointment based as research staff at
ORNL and half-time faculty in the Mathematics department at UTK. Candidates at
both junior and senior levels are encouraged to apply. Appointments at both
institutions are made at a level commensurate with the candidate's experience. The
successful candidate will be an ORNL employee jointly funded by both
institutions.

JICS supports research and teaching programs in computational science and
applied mathematics, computer science, high-performance computing, cyber
security, storage, and networking, with special emphasis on computational biology
and bioinformatics, quantum chemistry, nanotechnology, regional and global
climate modeling, and national security applications.
Required qualifications for the position include a Ph.D., evidence of significant
scientific productivity, and a commitment to an integrated program of teaching and
research.
